Two young children

A smile and some apprehension -- a universal mix of childhood experience

Uniforms and smiles

$12 for the School Uniform Program means can transform a child's face into a smile. It's amazing that a simple uniform can keep the door of opportunity for slamming shut in a child's face, but that's the reality of it. (Photo courtesy of the Helping Honduras Kids Jungle School.)

Company's welcome

An impoverished environment also often means severely limited childhood experiences which become indelibly embedded as a culture of poverty. Children at an early age seem innately interested in sopping up all the outside experience they can.

Empty glasses

Empty glasses illustrate the reality of chronic under-nutrition for some children. Dr. Black's milk program, his study of under-nutrition in the region he serves, and his exploratory work with Vitamin Angels (currently unsponsored) are all efforts to address this problem.
